We assess, diagnose and restore treatment using a variety of activities, including massage and exercise, to restore muscle strength and movement so you can return to normal daily activities. Physiotherapy at our Guelph and Kitchener locations is different from most other clinics. Our physiotherapists focus on hands-on approaches to facilitate your recovery. He/she will manipulate joints, manually treat muscles and scar tissue, and demonstrate exercises for you to do, both at our facility and at home. There is a strong emphasis on exercises and homework, as that is what will really get you better. To a lesser extent our physiotherapists will use ultrasound, acupuncture, TENS, and parafin wax therapies to aid the manual treatments. Physiotherapy is useful for sports-induced injuries, sprains, motor-vehicle accidents, WSIB injuries, correcting poor posture, repetative strain injuries, and neuralgia.
Dizziness and Vertigo
Vestibular rehabilitation is a non-invasive approach for patients
experiencing vestibular and balance disorders. The vestibular system is
made up of 3 components: the visual system, the inner ear and the
proprioceptive system. When there is a problem in one or more of these
systems, dizziness and imbalance can occur.
There are many causes for dizziness and balance disorders: stroke,
heart problems, blood pressure, anxiety, head trauma, and viral
infection are only a few of the possible causes for dizziness.
During your assessment, you will receive an in-depth review of your
problem and evaluation of your balance, musculoskeletal system,
severity of vertigo. Treatment will be deturmined upon your individual
assessment findings, and as such, an individualized treatment and
exercise program will be created for you.
